Over all Rating: (2/5) I don't recommend this program.
For a better alternative I highly recommend children learning reading by Jim Yang:
- A much better track record.
- 216000 happy parents.
- Much cheaper price (huge discount in the box below).
Reading head start review in details:
This reading head start review is my honest opinion discussing the positives and the negatives of the program so feel free to read and make your decision.
A point to be made clear:
This reading program doesn’t contain a shortcut to succeed in teaching your kid reading you have to be patient and organized.
It is heavily advertised as the magical solution for teaching your kid how to read but I think it is over hyped.
The program is designed by Sarah Shepard an English teacher.
The reading head start program consists of 40 lessons you have to complete with your child (details below).
I think the price is also not matching the value you get at all.
I am okay with paying even higher price if a program will help my kid how to read.
Reading head start program has 3 extra up-sells you can choose to purchase with the main product:
1- Alphabet coloring book collection: for $7.95.
2- Writing head start:
$87 one-time fee for lifetime access to writing head start. (learn to write worksheets updated monthly.)
3- The Math head start:
For $97 including a 1-year trial risk-free (if not satisfied get your money back.).
Math head start is suitable for young kids who can’t even count past 1.
- It helps them recognize numbers, counting, discovering 2-D, 3-D shapes, addition, subtraction.
- Understand money.
- Tell time (read the clock).
- Includes step by step math activities.
I really don’t see it as a good recommendation but if you still insist on trying it, I recommend you to get the $! trial and test it your self before purchasing the program.
The core program:
The main reading head start program consists of 40 lessons in 40 weeks ( 1 lesson/ week).
- Week 1-5: Discuss letter sounds, letter shapes, and basic phonological awareness.

Price plans and payment options of reading head start program:
1- $1 Trial then $37/mo Cancel Anytime. (recommended if you still want to test it).
2- 1-year subscription for $197 instead of $297+1 Full Year Money-Back Guarantee.
3-Life time access for $297+1 Full Year Money-Back Guarantee.
Pros:
1-Decent collection of printable flashcards and worksheets for your kid to practice.
Cons:
1-The program claims to have a special secret to teaching reading which is an exaggeration. (On the other hand, It depends on a balanced literacy approach which is a modern and excellent approach but not a secret as claimed).
2- I don’t think it can reverse dyslexia.
3- Price not suitable for everyone.
4-Better alternatives: An alternative reading program with a better track record and a lower price is the children learning reading program.
I hope you found this reading head start review helpful. If you decide to purchase or try the reading head start program, your opinion is very important to me to better evaluate this program (from the parent’s point of view).
This program can be easily applied by teachers but it is important to see how parents can respond to this program so feel free to share your opinion in the comment section below.
I really like how you speak truth with your better alternative and back it up with the better track record. Other than that, it’s a great review. But I’mma go with your alternative, thanks!
Good page, thanks for looking out for the the future of children.
you are welcome
I have a question how does it work when you have more than one child,Is the Price the same or is it separately
It is the same
its an effective way to teach your kids. its even more applicable now, since we are not able to send our kids to school.
Great tool for children, very helpful in these uncertain times with covid and kids having to possibly home school.
